Simulated Experiences at Saint Leo

Providing real world, real-time experiences in a simulated environment

What is the "Simulated Experiences at Saint Leo"?

GP9A1261.2

Simulated Experiences at Saint Leo (SESL) are virtual reality scenarios featuring animated environments and characters portrayed by live actors in real time. Powered by a blend of artificial intelligence and live human interaction, we provide experiential learning for essential skills in the workplace. By using trained professionals who orchestrate the interactions between learners and avatar-based characters, Simulated Experiences at Saint Leo achieves the realism needed to deliver measurable, high-impact results.

This approach has demonstrated impact in areas such as leadership development, adaptability, diversity and inclusion. Authentic interactions engage the emotional and cognitive faculties for truly transformative learning.  Our Sim Specialists create safe places for learners to practice and utilize new skills. SESL combines the best attributes of artificial intelligence and human reasoning inside an immersive environment to help develop and test skills.

Unlike a game or AI software, our simulations engage learners in an immersive experience. Students interact with our avatars in the same way they would real people. The avatar's responses are improvised in real time and can be adapted to suit each course’s requirements.

“Tell me, I forget. Show me, I remember. Involve me and I learn.” This is why simulations are so powerful - they show and involve. Simulated Experiences allow your students to apply what they learn in readings and lectures to solve problems in realistic classroom simulations. What they learn in simulations also works in the real world. Facing real-world challenges takes knowing what to do and having the experience gained from realistic practice to actually do it.  The ultimate human skills learning requires authentic, spontaneous practice, achievable with SLSE’s blend of artificial intelligence and live human interaction.Screenshot (43)

Simply choose an appropriate simulation script from our online library or create one customized to your specific requirements. No need for complicated training or advanced equipment. Our simulations can energize your course and engage your students. This experiential training immerses students in a customized virtual environment, harnessing the science of “presence” and “plausibility” for a holistic experience that can be used in conjunction with or in place of required field experiences.

How Does It Work?

Simulations engage participants in life-like, believable scenarios in real time. Depending on the scenario chosen, participants can interact with adult avatars, children, or both at the same time in a proctored session. Scenarios cover several categories, including customer service training, human resources training, and teacher or educator leadership preparation to name a few. Engaging with real actors using a variety of computer generated avatars in a virtual setting allows participants to learn from experience in a safe, simulated environment.

What Exactly Is a
 Scenario?

A scenario is the situation that defines the simulation and its objectives. It is designed by you, the client, and the University’s Simulation Specialist. The scenario determines the background content for a desired simulation, the challenges that will be encountered and the level of intensity to test the participant. Essentially, a scenario can be used for instruction or skill development and may be adapted to any discipline, including: education, hospitality, social work, and marketing. It is also possible to create custom scenarios using pre-existing documents, such as industry training materials

How Can I Schedule a Simulation Session?

You can schedule a simulation session with our Simulation Specialist here: Schedule Session

Please note that all simulation sessions must be scheduled a month prior to the desired date. This is to ensure adequate planning and development time between the Simulation Specialist and the client.
